Douglas “Gibby” Gibson

Douglas “Gibby” Gibson age 29, went to be with the Lord on September 11, 2019.  He was born and raised in Hawthorne, Nevada.  He was a graduate of Noble High School in 2008 and immediately started serving in the United States Navy as an active duty Sailor for 4 years.  He continued his military service for another 6 years as a reservist.

Douglas “Gibby” Gibson age 29, went to be with the Lord on September 11, 2019.  He was born and raised in Hawthorne, Nevada.  He was a graduate of Noble High School in 2008 and immediately started serving in the United States Navy as an active duty Sailor for 4 years.  He continued his military service for another 6 years as a reservist.

Douglas had a strong love for public service that manifested itself through his work at the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office.  He also enjoyed volunteering for various causes through his agency.

He was a talented artist and used his creativity in the area of photography, drawing, woodwork and crafting knives.

Douglas also enjoyed storm chasing, bonding with his buddy Trooper, and practicing jiu-jitsu with his wife Sarah whom he also enjoyed spending quality time with through simple activities such as watching television, talking together, or watching the storms roll in on the front porch.  Recently Douglas was enjoying time in prayer, studying through devotions and journaling.

Douglas is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Marie Gibson of Noble, Oklahoma; parents, Rhoda Koch and Keith Koch of Hawthorne, Nevada;  brother, Vince Koch of Astoria, Oregon and sisters, Mary Ruth Koch and Maggie Koch of Hawthorne, Nevada, and Curstin Rutherford of Mary Esther, Florida.

Douglas is preceded in death by his grandparents, Doyle and Ruth Brannon, grandfather John Gibson and his uncle, James Armstrong.

Services will be held at Victory Family Church on Tuesday, September 17th at 2 pm.
